-SAN VINCENZO-
San Vincenzo is also one of the main sports areas
in Tusacny: there are avant-guard cycling, football and tennis facilities,
excellent courts for volley-ball and basket-ball and underwater diving,
sailing and horse riding schools.
The town is constantly developing, and is surrounded by history and
culture: the Etruscan Necropolis at Barratti and Populonia, the mediaeval
towns of Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima and Castagneto Carducci, and
ancient towns like Volterra and Massa Marittima. And a pre-disposition
for good eating and drinking.
-SAN CARLO-
The small village of San Carlo, once a mining
village, dominates the valley leading to San Vincenzo and it is from
here that you can enjoy the incredible spectacle of colours that nature
offers.
From dawn to dusk. The rock faces date from Palaeolithic times and the
mineral and metal veins have given rise to human settlements since Etruscan
and Roman times.
In 1922 the Belgian company, Solvay settled in San Carlo to work the
natural quarries of limestone and they built up a real local economy
from the mineral extraction.
Today San Carlo lives mainly on tourism: the seaside at San Vincenzo
and the ever-growing tourism attracted by the converted farm-house holidays
and the eno-gastronomic holidays.
